CALCUTTA - St. Clair Township trustees Monday opened the four sealed bids received for the police car being sold by the police department.
Bids were received in the amounts of $3,101, $3,600, $2,777 and $2,578.18. The highest bidder at $6.600 was Dallas Cole.
Chief Brian McKenzie told the trustees in his report that there had been a tragic accident on state Route 11 and he wanted to recognize East Liverpool Fire Chief Antony Cumo and the East Liverpool Fire Department EMS members that were on the scene. He said Assistant Chief Lance Smith and his crew did an amazing job for as bad it was and that he reached out to Cumo to tell him the same thing.
McKenzie also sends his prayers to the family of those involved in the accident.
Road Foreman Dave Smith told the trustees that chip and seal is completed, and all went well with it. There was approximately 5 miles completed.
Smith also said that the boom tractor is down again, and it is currently at Vernon Dell Tractor to see what it is going to cost for repairs.
Bill Lucas, ()representative, reviewed the OTARMA renewal with the trustees who will vote on it at the next meeting.
The trustees approved a vendor license for Michael Baxter, Salem, a representative of Trinity Solar, and an application to work within a township for AEO on Sept. 1 to replace six utilities poles for fiber attachment.
Purchase orders totaling $21,859.57, blanket certificates totaling $4,058.88 and bills totaling $74,967.52 were approved for payment.
The minutes from the regular meeting on July 27 and the special meeting on Aug. 7 were approved as presented.
The trustees voted to go into an executive session for personnel matters to discuss the compensation of a public employee. Fiscal Officer Deborah Dawson and Columbiana County Assistant Prosecutor Brett Hartup were invited into the session.
After returning to an open session, the trustees voted to approve legal counsel to continue negotiations to finalize vacation payout for retired employee Scott Barrett.
The trustees had previously met in an executive session in a special meeting on Aug. 7 to consider compensation of a public employee and after returning to open session voted to approve $7,971.30 for vacation pay to Barrett.
The St. Clair Township trustees meet every other Monday at 4 p.m. at the St. Clair Township Government Building, 15442 Pugh Road, Calcutta. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 24.
