YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning County Land Bank Executive Director Debora Flora has been appointed as board president of the Ohio Land Bank Association, a statewide organization representing Ohio's 71 county land banks.
Established in Akron in 2018, the association serves as the unified voice for county land banks across Ohio, advocating for policies, collaboration, education and resources that strengthen communities statewide. The association supports its members by sharing best practices, securing critical funding opportunities and advancing redevelopment efforts that transform neighborhoods throughout the state.
As board president, Flora will help guide the organization's continued efforts to strengthen land banking initiatives and advocate for programs that return vacant, abandoned and underutilized properties to productive use.
Flora joined the board in 2019 and served as vice president until this recent appointment in July.
"As one of 71 county land banks in Ohio, the Mahoning County Land Bank is proud to help advance redevelopment solutions that create stronger communities," said Flora. "I look forward to working with my colleagues to build on the momentum we've created across Ohio.
"I also am thrilled that we will be hosting next year's state conference here in the Valley. It will be the first time in the association's history that four county land banks collaborate on the annual conference," added Flora. "We will do so in the spirit of the Lake to River region - Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Ashtabula counties. Our work benefits all through property reclamation and reinvestment. We are ready to demonstrate the power of one voice."
The Ohio Land Bank Association's 2027 state conference will take place next April in Canfield. Details and registration information will be available this fall.
