2 min read

SALEM -- A new group benefiting local veterans is set to hold its first meeting Wednesday.

The Veterans Cafe, a new program to support area veterans, will host its first monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Xterra Health, located at 130 S. Broadway Ave.

According to a press release, the Veterans Cafe is intended to offer "a comfortable gathering where veterans and their families can connect, learn, and support one another" and veterans from all communities in the area are invited to attend. During the event, attendees will have opportunities to learn about health care through the Veterans Benefits Administration, disability benefits, and other resources available to them. The Cafe also promises to serve as an opportunity for participating veterans to share their experiences and concerns, and to build friendships and community with fellow veterans.

"Come enjoy coffee, pastries, and great conversation with fellow veterans. For our first meeting, we will also be serving chicken and pizza. This event is open to all veterans and their families. Whether you're looking for information, resources, or simply want to enjoy a cup of coffee with fellow veterans, we'd love to have you join us," organizer Debbie Leggett said.

Moving forward, the event will be hosted monthly on the first Wednesday of the month. For any questions or additional information, contact Leggett at 330-853-3284.
