EAST PALESTINE -- Insight Clinical Counseling & Wellness LLC has awarded its fourth Youngstown State University Scholarship as part of its Insightful Empowerment Scholarship Program of East Palestine.
This year's recipient is Lauren Beaver of Negley who is pursuing a Master of Social Work through YSU's accelerated one-year Advanced Standing Program. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from YSU in May 2026 and recently obtained her Licensed Social Worker credential in Ohio. Her deep ties to the East Palestine community and passion for making a meaningful impact in the lives of others made her a natural fit for this year's award.
Launched in 2024 in partnership with YSU, the Insightful Empowerment Scholarship Program of East Palestine was founded in response to the mental health and wellness needs of the community after the train derailment in East Palestine. The scholarship provides funding for tuition, books, fees and parking for masters-level YSU students in the counseling or social work programs. To date, over $115,000 has been awarded to YSU students and that investment has been put directly back into the East Palestine community. Scholarship recipients complete a professional internship at Insight where they work with clients in the East Palestine area or surrounding communities.
"Throughout the selection process, Lauren stood out for her compassion, empathy and genuine ability to connect with people. We are honored to invest in Lauren's future and cannot wait to see the impact she will make on our community," Jessica Oates, founder and counselor at Insight, said.
