COLUMBIANA -- Second in line on the roster of the fourth season of the free Idabelle Firestone Fall Concert Series at Firestone Park is the Tamburizans, a national touring company based out of Pittsburgh dedicated to perpetuating the international cultural heritage of the music and dance of the Eastern European nations. They will appear on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m. at the Columbiana High School Auditorium, the only performance out of the entire season that will not be held at Firestone Park. Admission and parking is free and no tickets are required. Doors open at 2 p.m.
The Tamburitzans, named for the historical folk instrument, the Tamburiza, is comprised of talented college students from all over the country who annually present performances featuring a wide variety of brilliant, separate ensemble segments representing historical folk regions like Ireland, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, and other neighboring countries. Their national touring performances have been dazzling audiences for over 80 years with the thrilling music, intricate dance steps, and stunning authentic costume changes that bring the spirit of Eastern Europe to life through vibrant performance.
The remaining free concerts at Firestone Park, sponsored by the Firestone Park Cultural and Custodial Committee, will continue every Sunday in September at 3 p.m. at the Idabelle Firestone Gathering Place and Garden. They include the Suburban Brass Quintet on Sept. 13, Down Und Kraut Polka Band at 3 p.m. Sept. 20 and the Dave Banks 16-piece orchestra and Rack Pat live tribute artists on Sept. 27 to round out the series.
Covered lawn seating is provided and guests may also bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Shuttles will also be available from the pool parking lot at the main entrance of the park to take visitors up the hill to the concert venue.
