Historical Society of Columbiana and Fairfield Township to host Sojourner Truth program

COLUMBIANA -- The Historical Society of Columbiana and Fairfield Township will host before the public "An Evening with Sojourner Truth" presented by Eddie Murphy of Wellsville at 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at the First Presbyterian Church, 28 E. Park Ave. The event is free to the public.
Portrayed by Murphy in the first person, Truth was an abolitionist and woman rights activist.
Murphy returned to her beloved village of Wellsville after residing in Southern California for nearly four decades. While there, she had successful careers with both Hughes Aircraft Company and UCLA where she was the overseer of retirees for both employers. She is a follower of Christ and her love for Wellsville is secondary to that of the Lord.
Currently, Murphy is the president of the Wellsville Community Foundation whose mission is "to contribute to charitable purposes, or conduct activities, for the common good, general welfare and civic benefits of the Wellsville community and its environs."
