EAST LIVERPOOL -- After about a three-year absence, the East Liverpool Fire Department has brought back its Fire Department Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies.
The shirts and hoodies are only available for purchase for a limited time, and the proceeds from the sale of the shirts will be donated to local breast cancer organizations.
The pink T-shirts and hoodies will say East Liverpool Fire Department with a pink ribbon on the back and the East Liverpool Local 24 emblem on the front.
The deadline to purchase the shirts is Sept. 13 at 11:59 p.m.
The deadline is to allow Campbell Signs & Apparel LLC time to print the shirts and get them to the fire department where customers can pick them up on Sept. 26. and have them in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month which is October.
The shirts and hoodies can be purchased in a variety of sizes including youth online at www.csaprint.campbellsa.com/elfdbc23/shop/home cost between $20 and $28, depending on style for the T-shirts; sweatshirts are $35 and hoodies are $40.
The department will be doing the same thing in early October, but for a different organization. With November being National Veterans and Military Families, the fire department will be selling shirts for veterans' appreciation and the funds raised from the sale of those shirts will be donated to the Elks Lodge for the programs that host to for veterans, fire Lt. Josh Coil said. He noted the shirts are just to share awareness and appreciation for veterans and that it's nice to show veterans they are appreciated and give something back to them.

The shirt fundraiser is another way that the East Liverpool Fire Department engages with and supports the community.
"We love being active and being a part of many organizations and helping any way we can," Coil said. He noted that breast cancer is one of the leading cancers in women, so this is something the firefighters can do to help raise that awareness.
Coil said the focused organizations selected for the shirt fundraisers are organizations in need that try to help the community. They try to keep the organizations as local as possible.
