EAST PALESTINE - The August meeting of the East Palestine Town & Country Club was called to order by first welcoming all who were present. A prayer was said and members invited to enjoy the snack which was prepared by Lyddy Jones, Judy Howard and Mary Anne Tyger.
Next everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance. Attendance was called with members to respond with their favorite summer drink or treat. Secretary Bonnie Davis read the minutes with corrections made, seconded, and approved. The treasurer's report was given by the Assistant Treasurer Kathy Byard. Corresponding Secretary Aubrin Strohecker said there were no birthdays in August. She sent two birthday cards in June and 1 in July, along with four Thank You cards.
Under Committee reports, Ways and Means Chair Bonnie Davis discussed with members about selling flags for fall and winter. She also reported on Raffle ticket sales, upcoming Wheels of the Valley (Aug. 22) and the Fall Festival (Sept, 12), with sign-up sheet available to work at these two events.
Under Old Business, the topics of discussion were the annual July picnic, Memorial Benches, Tablecloth embroidery, Cabana Tent and By-Laws revision.
Under New Business, the decision made to not participate in the Bulldog Blitz. There are lots of ideas for the club's next endeavor of doing garden club presentations at the schools, along with ideas for the carnations received from Elwonger Florist, Decorating a Scarecrow for the Fall Festival, and the project of decorating rocks.
The next meeting will be Sept. 14 at the First Church of Christ, where the club will be finalizing the plans for the 2026 Home Tours, which will be Nov. 13 and 14 this year.
