Salem Regional Medical Center Look Nook Gift Shop hosting Fall Mum Sale
The Look Nook Gift Shop at Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is hosting a Fall Mum Sale Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. A variety of 8-inch mums from L&M Greenhouse, LLC will be available for purchase at $10 each. The sale is cash only. L&M Greenhouse will donate 20% of proceeds back to SRMC to support patient care. The Look Nook Gift Shop is located next to the cafeteria on the hospital's ground floor.

Bigfoot Program with Amy Bue: Monday, Aug. 31 at 5:30 p.m. Amy Bue is an Ohio-based Bigfoot researcher, writer and educator.
Adult Activity Hour: Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. All adults are welcome. Share stories, learn new games, and make friends. The group meets twice a month. Call to register.
Author Amanda Flower: Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. Join the library for an afternoon with USA Today bestselling author Amanda Flower, whose work includes over 50 titles and three Agatha Awards. Her series includes the Emily Dickinson Mystery series, the Wright Brothers Mystery series, and Amish Mysteries. In this special event, Flower will share insights into her latest historical series and her creative process. Reservations are recommended.
Writers' Group: Saturdays, Sept. 5 and Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. Join fellow writers as they come to discuss topics such as writing, publishing, and grammar. To receive constructive critiques, submit five pages a week in advance to dolly@lepperlibrary.org.

Underground Railroad Month: Frederick Douglass Talk & Walking Tour in Salem
Celebrate Underground Railroad Month with a Frederick Douglass experience in Salem at 11 a.m. Sept. 5 at the First Presbyterian Church, 436 E. Second St. Before the walking tour begins, Nathan Richardson, portraying Frederick Douglass, will join via live video call to share insights into Douglass's visits to Salem. Richardson will discuss key historical moments, including the 1852 Sojourner Truth "Is God Dead?" interaction, the 1859 founding of the AME Zion Church congregation, and Douglass's 1869 oration at the laying of the cornerstone for the Mt. Zion AME Zion Church. Following the virtual presentation, participants will take a guided walking tour through Salem, visiting the sites connected to these powerful moments in history. The program will be presented by The Teegarden Historical Society, Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past and local educators.
