East Liverpool income tax department announces change in payment provider
The East Liverpool City Income Tax Department is announcing a change to a new payment provider. The new provider, Paystar, will accept credit, debit or ACH payments online at https://secure.paystar.io/checkout/city-of-east-liverpool-taxes. The Paystar site can be accessed through the link or by going to ww. Eastliverpool.com and clicking on one of the two links there. Sharon Williams, tax commissioner, noted that this is a cheaper and much more user-friendly option. There is no longer a phone number to call to make payments, but online payments can be made from a phone.
East Palestine Music in the Park to feature Wilson Hill Band
East Palestine Friends of the Park and EPACT will present Music in the Park featuring the Wilson Hill Band from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Food trucks open at 6 p.m.
Banquet in Salem to include ham dinner
The Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building, sponsored anonymously. The menu will include ham, augratin potatoes, green beans, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and peaches.Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. No parking in the library lot. Mahoning County residents invited to discover the Mediterranean way of eating
Ohio State University Extension, Mahoning County, is inviting area residents to explore a simple and satisfying approach to healthy eating through its upcoming Med Instead of Meds in-person class series. The five-part series will introduce participants to the Mediterranean way of eating and provide practical tips, recipes and "life hacks" that can be incorporated into everyday meals. The program focuses on seven simple steps to help participants "Go Med" and make the Mediterranean way of eating a regular part of their lifestyle.
Classes will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays, Sept. 11 through Oct. 9, at the Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield.
Each session will focus on a different aspect of the Mediterranean way of eating:
Sept. 11 -- Introducing the Mediterranean Way of Eating. Participants will be introduced to the principles behind the Mediterranean approach.
Sept. 18 -- Swap Your Fats. Explore ways to make healthier choices when it comes to dietary fats.
Sept. 25 -- Eat More Fruits and Vegetables. Learn practical ways to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into everyday meals.
Oct. 2 -- Change Your Protein. Discover ways to rethink protein choices and incorporate variety into meals.
Oct. 9 -- Rethink Your Sweets. Learn strategies for approaching sweets while still enjoying satisfying foods.

Underground Railroad Month: Frederick Douglass Talk & Walking Tour in Salem
Celebrate Underground Railroad Month with a Frederick Douglass experience in Salem at 11 a.m. Sept. 5 at the First Presbyterian Church, 436 E. Second St. Before the walking tour begins, Nathan Richardson, portraying Frederick Douglass, will join via live video call to share insights into Douglass's visits to Salem. Richardson will discuss key historical moments, including the 1852 Sojourner Truth "Is God Dead?" interaction, the 1859 founding of the AME Zion Church congregation, and Douglass's 1869 oration at the laying of the cornerstone for the Mt. Zion AME Zion Church. Following the virtual presentation, participants will take a guided walking tour through Salem, visiting the sites connected to these powerful moments in history. Reilly Project pavers order deadline approaching
This is a reminder from Salem Preservation Society's Reilly Project Committee, the deadline to order a paver this year is Sept. 1. East Liverpool Masons to recognize Scouts with Beard Award
The East Liverpool Masonic Lodge will be presenting the Daniel Carter Beard Award to Troop 2012 Scout Master and Master Mason Michael McGown at a ceremony and dinner to be held on Saturday, Sept. 12. The Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award is a national recognition given to Master Masons who present outstanding service to youth through Scouting. The evening will begin with a meet and greet at 5 p.m. followed by the ceremony at 6 p.m. and conclude with a roast beef dinner at 7 p.m. Reservations are required. Tops 1341 meeting
Tops 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church Monday, with Mary Gailey, facilitator, presiding. Dorothy Garn was the best loser and Cheryl Myers was the runner up. They chose no eating after supper and ice cream as the junk foods for the coming week.
The drawing winners were: 50/50, food chart and weight loss-Garn, junk food-Dena White.
Garn was three times in the Best Losers Book. In the attendance record was Gaily 8 weeks, Lydia Kraft 16 weeks, and Marlene Reynolds 8 weeks. Chris Plunkett retained the travel box for week two. All members went back on the check this week.
Plunkett presented a program reading from the Tops magazine entitled "Color Your Plate." Each member was given a fruit. Reynolds has the program next week.
The meeting opened with pledges and closed with prayer concerns and the Lord's Prayer.

Choose To Lose Group meeting
Choose To Lose Group met at Boyce Church Tuesday, with leader Penny Perorazio presiding.
The meeting opened up with the pledge of allegiance followed by the CTLG roll call.
Pam Fouse gave the secretary's report and Cassie Stephens gave the treasurer's report. Both were approved as read.
Jackie Wilson was the biggest loser, Fouse was the runner up.
The no no's are white bread and ice-cream.
Jean Ferrebee won the food journals, Wilson won the dimes that were held over, and Margo Arnold won Share The Blessing.
Newest member Darla Henderson, Arnold, Wilson, Ferrebee and Fouse lost weight and got to Put A Turtle In The Tank.
Winners of the No Fibbing Contest are Perorazio and Fouse.
Perorazio shared information about The Sneaky Causes Of Muffled Hearing.
Next week members will be celebrating their Summer Party Picnic.
Perorazio closed the meeting with prayer requests followed by the Lord's Prayer. New and former members are always welcome.
