OSU Extension Mahoning County to offer 8-week "A Matter of Balance" Fall Prevention Program
CANFIELD - Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County is offering A Matter of Balance, an award-winning program designed to help older adults reduce their fear of falling, improve balance, and remain active and independent.
The eight-week series will be held Wednesdays, Sept. 9 through Oct. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the OSU Extension Office, 490 S. Broad St.
Many older adults experience concerns about falling that lead them to limit their daily activities. This evidence-based program helps participants gain confidence by learning practical strategies to prevent falls and maintain an active lifestyle.
During the course, participants will learn to:
-- View falls as controllable rather than an inevitable part of aging.
-- Set realistic goals for increasing physical activity.
-- Identify and reduce fall hazards in and around the home.
-- Improve strength, flexibility, and balance through simple exercises.
Classes meet once a week for two hours over the eight-week program. The registration fee is $10 per participant for the entire series and includes all program materials.
Advance registration is required. To register, visit https://go.osu.edu/matterofbalancefall26 or call the OSU Extension Mahoning County Office at 330-533-5538.
