East Liverpool Artists Retreat returns this weekend
Local artists will participate once again this year in the East Liverpool Artists Retreat. The retreat is being held at the Sturgis House Bed and Breakfast downtown. The event has support from both local businesses as well as national and international companies. Local businesses include Bleat and Bloom, Casa de Emmanuel, Craft Treasures & Boutique, the Fresh Cafe and Bakery, the Pear Tree Shop, True North and the Vault. National and international sponsors include Blick Art Materials, M. Graham & Co. and Rosemary & Co. The Retreat begins at 10 a.m. Friday and continues through noon Sunday. Artists will have unstructured and uninterrupted time to work on their own projects in the comfort of the Sturgis House. Participants will also enjoy the company and camaraderie of fellow artists. This is the third year the retreat has been held.
East Liverpool Moose Lodge rummage sale
The East Liverpool Moose Lodge will have its indoor rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the banquet hall. The event is open to the public.
GreifShare program at Lake Mount Church of Christ
Lake Mount Church of Christ, 6290 state Route 7, New Waterford, is hosting GriefShare starting Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. GriefShare is a 13-week faith based program to assist individuals who are grieving the loss of a loved one. It is led by Christians who have experienced grief and desire to help others in their healing. For information, call Lake Mount Church of Christ at 330-227-3636.
Salem Historical Society monthly meeting
The Salem Historical Society monthly meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Shelter 1 in Centennial Park. Bring own tableware and a dish to share. Hotdogs with condiments and beverages will be provided. Margie Goldner, president of the Austintown Historical Society, will present a program on Austin Log Cabin and Strock Stone House in Austintown.
Lepper Library upcoming events
Lepper Library in Lisbon will host two upcoming events. The events include Test & Taste This Recipe from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday; use library card to borrow a cookbook, select a recipe, prepare it at home, bring some to share and discuss it. The August Craft will be Primitive Farmhouse Flowers, with choice of class at 4:30 or 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. Reservations required. Make some adorable primitive flowers for home or to give as a cheery gift. Craft Class brought in part by the Ohio Arts Council.
