EAST PALESTINE -- A popular car cruise held in the village has a new name and an expanded offering of vehicles to see, including semi trucks and jeeps this year.
The Wheels of the Valley event hosted by the East Palestine Chamber of Commerce will take place this Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
Formerly known as the Classic Car Cruise, the Wheels of the Valley is a "fresh take" on the event that had long been sponsored and organized by the Rotary Club of East Palestine, the village said in a statement announcing the event on its website.
"Their dedication, countless volunteer hours, and genuine passion created an iconic community tradition that will always be remembered. The Village of East Palestine and the Chamber extends their sincere gratitude to the Rotary Club of East Palestine; their involvement bring exciting variety of automotive displays to town, including approximately 100 semi-trucks and diesel engines, a Jeep invasion from Cleveland, motorcycles, and a full swap meet for visitors to enjoy," the village said in the announcement.
The Wheels of the Valley event this Saturday is sponsored by The East Palestine Eagles no. 1506.
Parking for the Car Show and Motorcycles and Swap Meet will begin at 9 a.m.
The Car Show will take place on downtown Market Street from 10 a.m. until the afternoon and the Motorcycles and Swap Meet will be located at the American Legion from 10 a.m. until the afternoon as well.
Semi trucks and Jeeps will be on display beginning at noon and last through the evening.
Semis will be located at the East Palestine High School and Jeeps will be located at Tom's Tire on Sumner Street.
Food trucks will also be available on Meadow Lane throughout the event.
"The Wheels of the Valley event is just another example of the tremendous effort and work the East Palestine community is putting in to bring others to our community, show what we have to offer, and most importantly, have some fun," Village Manager Antonio Diaz-Guy said.
