GOSHEN TOWNSHIP -- The board of trustees approved two quotes for repairs to the township's salt storage building in a special meeting Thursday.
The trustees voted unanimously to approve an $8,600 quote from Wecover Building Systems for repairs to the roof of the township's salt storage building, which was damaged during severe storms on July 3. Board of Trustees Chair Shawn Mesler said that the township's salt storage building was a hoop type and that the storm had nearly torn the roof off completely.
The trustees also voted unanimously to approve a $5,500 quote from Derstine Works LLC to reinforce the barn walls with two pilasters, a type of interconnected rebar and cement column which brace the existing walls. Mesler said that cracks in the walls had been worsening over the last few years, and that the decision was made to address the issue before it became more severe as salt began to get into those cracks and corrode the barn's internal rebar structure.
The board of trustees will meet next at 6 p.m. on Aug. 11.
