Today 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Dr. Dave (Whiz Bang) presents the World of Dinosaurs Science Finale. Following the program, prizes will be awarded and then pizza from Italo's will be served on the front lawn. Participants will also choose a free book for participating in the Summer Reading Program. All readers of all ages are welcome.
Visit the libary at the Columbiana County Fair
Wednesday, Aug. 5, noon to 1 p.m.
Find library personnel at the fair for a special collaboration of the county libraries for a BLUEY program.
Thursday, Aug. 6, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visit Youth Librarian Kim at the Kid's Corner at the Columbiana County Fair to make a special craft that you can take home as a souvenir.
Paint with T – Fall Canvas Painting
Monday, Aug. 3, 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Terry is back and will take participants step-by-step through painting this beautiful fall canvas. A supply fee of $30 is due at signup. No refunds after supplies have been ordered. Signup deadline is 2 p.m. today.

August events at the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center
EAST LIVERPOOL -- The Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center has announced its activity schedule for August. For information visit beavercreekwildlife.org or follow on Facebook.
Saturday, Aug., 1 from 1- 4:30 p.m.: Flint Knapping and Arrow Making. Spend some time under the pavilion this afternoon and watch Chip Hudson as he demonstrates how to make arrowheads from different materials and how to make arrows using the arrowheads. Examine samples of his work, including knives, bows, and arrows, and ask questions. Even try making an arrowhead.
Sunday, Aug. 2 from 1-2 p.m.: Ohio School of Falconry. The Ohio School of Falconry will be set up in front yard of the Wildlife Education Center. Joe Dorian will demonstrate how the birds fly and capture their food and talk about each bird. Take pictures of the birds. At the end of the program, 10 names will be drawn from those attending the program (must be at least 9 years old to do this.) Those people will be able to have one of the birds fly to their arm.
Saturday, Aug. 8 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Amazing Hellbenders! Join some experts in the classroom at the Wildlife Center, and learn about North America's largest salamander, the Eastern Hellbender. See two short videos that highlight information about this amazing amphibian. After the videos there will be a discussion panel where you can ask questions and learn how to help improve Ohio's aquatic habitats so the Hellbender can survive. NRCS, DNAP, and the SWCD have programs to support aquatic habitat to enhance their population.
Saturday, Aug. 15 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Wildlife Watchers 102. Phenology (Say What??) and the Power of Effective Observation. Join BCWEC volunteers Cheryl and Eileen in the classroom at the Wildlife Center. Participants will learn the basics of phenology (as in phenomenon) -- which is the method by which many events in nature can be predicted -- like when will the hummingbirds arrive? When will the cherry blossoms bloom in D.C.? Tips on improving observation skills and the basics of nature journaling will be shared. Participants will be provided with an opportunity to practice these skills on the grounds of the Center. Registration required by sending contact information to edraybardon@yahoo.com. Class size limited to 25. Suitable for age 10 and older.
Sunday, Aug. 16 from noon-1:30 p.m.: Stream Stomp!! Meet Matthew Smith and Ryan Moss from ODNR Div. of Natural Areas and Preserves in the parking lot of Beaver Creek State Park, 12021 Echo Dell Road, East Liverpool, for a fun time finding critters that live in Little Beaver Creek, a Wild & Scenic River. They will identify what is found and talk about water quality and how it affects these organisms. Participants must wear boots or closed-toe shoes to get in the creek for this activity. Come prepared to have fun and maybe get wet. After the program have a picnic in the park and then visit the Wildlife Education Center in the afternoon. This event will be canceled in the case of unsafe high water or rainstorms.
Sunday, Aug. 16 from 1-4:30 p.m.: Observing Nature Up Close. Join BCWEC volunteers as they show images of macroinvertebrates from Beaver Creek under their dissection microscopes. Learn how microscopes work and examine some of the small living creatures that live in Beaver Creek.
Sunday, Aug. 16 from 1-4:30 p.m.: Carolyn's Nature Craft - Seashell Wind Chimes. Join wildlife center volunteers under the pavilion and create a seashell windchime. Design a beachy masterpiece that jingles and sparkles in the wind -- a perfect reminder of sunny summer days. Supplies provided for the first 25 participants.
Sunday, Aug. 16 from 1-4 p.m.: SCAVENGER HUNT on Logan's Loop Trail. Children and their adults can take a short hike on Logan's Loop trail, located behind the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center, and try to find all the animals on the scavenger hunt list. When the hunt is completed, families will receive a booklet about the animals they found on the trail. Adults can pick up the scavenger hunt paper, a pencil, and a clip board at the desk. The hike is .6 miles long and has a couple steeper areas. Participants should wear sturdy shoes. Come on out to the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center for some family fun and see how many of the hidden animals you can find. Will be canceled in case of bad weather.
Saturday, Aug. 22 from 1-4:30 p.m.: "Getting Your Energy Along the Food Chain." Join Wildlife Center volunteer Mary Spooner under the pavilion any time this afternoon and do a hands-on interactive activity for all ages to enjoy. Explore where energy comes from and how it moves along the food chain.
Tops 1341 meeting
GLENMOOR -- Tops 1341 met Monday, July 20, at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church with Leader Mary Gailey presiding. The meeting started with pledges. The Best Loser was Darlene Naukam and the Runner Up was Patty Gruszecki. They chose pie and no eating after dinner as this week's junk foods.
The drawing winners were: 50/50, Pat Allison; Food Chart, Naukam; Weight Loss, Gruszecki; Junk Food, Gailey. Gailey was also three weeks in the Best Loser's Book. Attendance Book, Chris Plunkett for eight weeks and Naukam for 40 weeks. Lydia Kraft held the travel box for week 3. Dena White returned from vacation without a gain.
There was an installation of officers for the next year: leader is Gailey, co-leader is Cindy Hays, treasurer is Cathy Wollam, secretary is Dorothy Garn, weight recorder is Darla Varney.
Hays had the program.
The meeting ended with The Lord's Prayer.

Springfield Township Afternoon at the Museum
The Springfield Township Historical Society Museum continues its "Afternoon at the Museum" speaker series on Sunday, Aug. 2. In keeping with the America250 celebration, Gary Williams will present "Revolutionary! -- an unlikely story of how a collection of colonies gained their independence from the most powerful country on earth." The STHS museum opens at 1:30 p.m., program starts at 2 p.m. This program is free and open to everyone. The museum is at 14188 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, (state Route 170), Petersburg. July 14
Choose To Lose Group met at Boyce Church July 14 with leader Penny Perorazio presiding. The meeting opened up with the pledge of allegiance followed by the CTLG roll call.
Pam Fouse gave the secretary's report and Cassie Stephens gave the treasurer's report. Both were approved as read.
Tammy Heddelston, weight recorder assistant, was the biggest loser. Margo Arnold was the runner up.
Jackie Wilson has ten pounds off.
Cassie Stephens and Pam Fouse had three weeks weight loss.
The no no's are bread and french fries.
Perorazio won the food journals, Stephens won the dimes, and Jean Ferrebee won the Share The Blessing.
Stephens, Perorazio, Dottie Seevers, Heddelston, Jackie Wilson, and Fouse got to put a Turtle In The Tank.
Winners of the No Fibbing Contest are Heddelston, Wilson, Pat Heacock, Perorazio and Fouse.
Perorazio read an article on After 60 People Lose Power.
Perorazio closed the meeting with prayer requests followed by the Lord's prayer.
