Salem library documents USA’s past

SALEM–The Salem Public Library and the Salem Community Theater will team up Friday to offer an immersive historical presentation in celebration of America’s semiquincentennial.

The Library and the Community Theatre will come together to present “an evening dedicated to heroes of American Democracy” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the library according to a press release. The event will feature a full cast of figures from American history “who made significant contributions to the ‘American Experiment'” portrayed by library staff, patrons, members of the Salem Community Theatre family, and Salem residents.

These historical figures will be stationed at locations throughout the library with attendees rotating between stations every five to eight minutes. At each station the historical figure will introduce themselves and tell attendees “about the role they played in our democratic society.”

Following the individual presentations, the evening will conclude with a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence.

The program is free to attend and open to all ages, but advanced registration is required and can be completed at the library’s website under the events tab. For registration assistance call the library at 330-332-0042.

Starting at $3.75/week.
