Salem Regional Medical Center only tri-county hospital to report zero CLABSI events in latest CMS data

SALEM – New federal data shows that 405 hospitals nationwide reported zero central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) from July 2024 through June 2025 — and Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is the only hospital in the tri-county area to achieve this milestone.

The update, released May 13 by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), includes infection-prevention performance for five major types of healthcare-associated infections collected through the CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network. These measures reflect how often patients develop infections during an inpatient stay compared to similar hospitals.

CMS reports that the measures apply to all patients in acute-care hospitals, including adult, Medicare, and non-Medicare populations.

“This recognition reflects the exceptional work of our clinical teams and their unwavering commitment to patient safety,” said Dr. Anita A. Hackstedde, President and CEO of Salem Regional Medical Center. “Achieving a zero CLABSI rate is a direct result of our staff’s vigilance, expertise and dedication to providing the highest standard of care for every patient we serve.”

Starting at $3.75/week.
