SALEM – The CAA Salem Health Center has made a move to accommodate the growing number of patients in the Salem area and surrounding communities.

The new location at 600 E. Second St. is now open and new patients are welcomed, according to Jenna Wonner, COO of CAA Health, Behavioral Health and Dental Centers.

To celebrate the new facility, the public is invited to an open house from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 9. A ribbon cutting is planned as well as tours of the new CAA Salem Health Center and light refreshments.

“Our primary goal always is to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive and affordable health, behavioral health and dental care to the people in our communities, regardless of their circumstances,” said Tom Andrews, CAA’s CEO.

The new facility was purchased in 2025 and is approximately 4,080 square feet, “which is more than double the square feet at our former location on Southeast Boulevard,” Wonner said.

The new site has a private waiting room, front desk reception area, a larger lab and separate behavioral health and medical areas for noise control and privacy.

The medical side will have three exam rooms to be used by primary care and women’s health. The behavioral health side will have four offices and an exam room, according to Wonner.

“We will continue to be open five days per week with either medical or women’s health on site each day, and there is a goal to have counseling and a psychiatric nurse practitioner on site each day of the week as well,” Wonner noted.

Dr. Kristi Johnson, OB-GYN and CAA Medical Director, is seeing patients at the new 2nd Street site, as well as Jennifer Truex, Family Practice Nurse Practitioner. Medical services available will include physicals, sick visits, gynecological care, and treatment for chronic illnesses

Dr. Beth Stutzman, Psychologist, and Crysti Blower, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, also are seeing patients at the new facility. Behavioral health services available include individual, couples and family counseling and medication management.

CAA expanded its health and behavioral health to the former Southeast Boulevard site in 2023, but outgrew that office in the first year, Wonner said.

CAA Health, Behavioral Health and Dental Centers are Federally Qualified Health Centers, with six locations in East Liverpool, Lisbon, Salem and Salineville, as well as inside United Local schools.

All CAA Centers are open to all county residents regardless of the ability to pay.

“All of CAA’s Health, Behavioral Health and Dental Centers accept most private insurances, such as Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Medical Mutual of Ohio and UnitedHealthcare,” Andrews said. “We also serve patients with Medicare and Medicaid. And a sliding fee scale based on a family’s income is offered for those without insurance.”

There also are two CAA pharmacies – one at the Lisbon Health Center, 7880 Lincole Place, and the other at the East Liverpool Campus Building 1, 16480 St. Clair Ave., which are 340B pharmacies offering outpatient drugs to CAA patients at significantly reduced prices.

Andrews noted that if a patient is in need of a service not offered at the new Salem site, for example dental, CAA will set up an appointment at one of the other six CAA locations, as there is full scheduling access available.

CAA Pharmacist David Hudoba said free pharmacy delivery is offered to CAA patients living in Salem. “Tentatively, we are implementing a schedule to deliver to Salem on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” he stated.

“CAA is proud to continue its long history – 60-plus years — of helping the people of Columbiana County, and our newest facility in Salem we believe will long continue our affordable and quality, integrated services to so many people,” Andrews said.
