Saltwell Road intersection reopened, allowing access from state Route 45

LISBON — Saltwell Road in Lisbon is reopened.

Lisbon water department workers removed the barricades mid-morning Tuesday, allowing motorists access to the road from state Route 45 west to Dickey Drive and beyond.

The closure of that section of Saltwell Road had been extended to May 14, but Lisbon Water Department Senior Plant Operator Chris Peterson said the project to replace a collapsed sewer line was completed Friday, with all the equipment removed Monday to make way for the opening Tuesday.

The village water department had already been planning on installing a new sewer line along there as part of the North Market Street sewer replacement project, but on April 24, the plans changed for the sewer line at that intersection after the line collapsed.

All that remains is some paving work.

When asked how the project turned out, Peterson said “everything’s working spectacularly.”

The closing required motorists trying to reach the post office, the Board of Elections, the Department of Job and Family Services, Veterans Service Commission, Columbiana County Municipal Court and Title Department and other businesses off of Saltwell to access it from state Route 164, with detour signs marking the way.

Starting at $2.99/week.
