Imhoff taught attendees about the origins of amphibians, which were the first land animals to evolve. He said that amphibians were at one time the dominant form of life on Earth prior to the Permian Extinction event 225 million years ago when approximately 90% of all species on the planet went extinct.

Attendees also learned about the differences between amphibians and reptiles and about the 40 species of amphibian native to Ohio, which includes 26 species of salamanders and 14 species of frogs and toads.
