Lisbon school board approves raises in new teachers union contract
LISBON — The Lisbon school board approved a new master agreement with the Lisbon Education Association at its meeting Thursday.
The agreement will have a three-year term and be effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029.
Superintendent Joseph Siefke said that under the agreement union members will receive a 3% raise in years one and three of the contract, and a 2.5% raise in year two. The agreement also implements a new high-deductible insurance plan which would be optional for the district’s current employees but mandatory for new hires.
The contract will also implement two additional professional development days on Sept. 4, and Nov. 30, Siefke said.
Siefke said that the negotiation process for the agreement had gone well and praised the union’s negotiation team.
“The Lisbon teachers union cares about the kids in Lisbon, they care about their employees, their peers, and they care about the future of the district financially. With those three things in mind, we were able to negotiate what I believe to be a fair contract for the next three years. I appreciate their professionalism during the process and I couldn’t be happier,” said Siefke.
The board also approved the purchase of 45 Dell desktop computers at a cost of $38,115 to replace aging teacher workstations at David Anderson Jr./Sr. High School. Siefke said that with the district having already replaced the teacher’s workstations at McKinley Elementary, that the purchase “should keep the teacher’s workstations up to date for the next few years.”
Other financial matters included acceptance of donations of $500 from the Lisbon Auxiliary Police Department and $750 from the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church to help pay for fifth-grade students to go to Camp Kon-O-Kwee, and $200 from the first united methodist church for graduating senior expenses.
The board also approved several athletic supplementals for the 2026-2027 school year including: Varsity Cross Country Coach Nikol Mundy; Assistant Cross Country Coach Janet Lane, Varsity Volleyball Coach Dana Blackburn; Eighth Grade Volleyball Coach Casey Pancurak; Seventh Grade Volleyball Coach Connor Lane; Varsity Cheerleading Advisor Anna Madison; Varsity Assistant Cheerleading Advisor Cassie Chamberlain; Junior High Cheerleading Advisor Katelyn Gloeckner; Varsity Football Coach Bill Meek; Assistant Varsity Football Coaches Eric Carroll, Danny Donohue, David Toot, Derek Oesch, Seth Davis, and Cory Wonner; Eighth Grade Football Coach Kyle Bing; and Seventh Grade Football Coach Ryan Brown.
“We’re very fortunate to have a core of veteran coaches willing to work with our kids,” said Siefke.
