The East Liverpool High School Concert Band has made school history with an extraordinary season of achievement. On Friday, March 6, the band earned an overall Superior (I) rating at the OMEA District Large Group Contest–the first time in recent school history that East Liverpool’s concert band has received the highest possible rating at this level. This remarkable accomplishment qualified the band to advance to state competition.
On Friday, May 1, the community came together to celebrate and support the band as they departed for GlenOak High School in Canton, Ohio, to compete in the OMEA State Large Group Contest. Following a spirited walkthrough at the school led by junior high band members and high school cheerleaders, the band boarded buses for a memorable sendoff. The East Liverpool Police Department and Fire Department escorted the buses through the city, passing City Hall where the mayor, community members, parents, and grandparents gathered to wish the students well.
The East Liverpool High School Concert Band once again rose to the occasion, earning another Superior (I) rating at the state level–the highest honor possible. This outstanding achievement solidifies the East Liverpool Concert Band as one of the top concert bands in Ohio and is a proud moment for the entire East Liverpool community.
