Beaver Local choir concert

The Beaver Local High School Concert Choir and Rhythm in Red Show Choir will perform at 7 p.m. tonight in the auditorium. Rhythm in Red alumni are invited to sing “Why We Sing.”

Wellsville clean-up day

The Wellsville Garden Club and Wellsville Community Foundation will be partnering with the Village of Wellsville for a village clean-up day on May 16. Volunteers are needed to help with the clean-up effort and anyone willing to volunteer should meet at the gazebo on Main Street the day of at 9 a.m.

Hookstown Grange Memorial Day Car Cruise

Hookstown Grange will hold its annual Memorial Day Car Cruise following the parade at the Hookstown Fairgrounds from noon to 3 p.m. Arrive before 11 a.m. to watch the parade. Road will reopen at noon. Dash plaques will be given to the first 75 participants. Sponsored by Southside Grange. Free parking and admission. The event will also feature a 50/50 drawing, give-aways every 15 minutes, food and T-shirts for $10. For information call Mike Elliott at 724-573-9377.

Perry Twp. trustees cancel May 25 meeting

The Perry Township trustees have canceled their next regular meeting, which would have fallen on May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. The board of trustees will meet next at 4 p.m. June 8.

Choose to Lose Group

Choose To Lose Group met at Boyce Church May 12 with leader Penny Perorazio presiding. The meeting opened up with the pledge of allegiance followed by CTLG roll call.

Pam Fouse gave the secretary’s report and Cassie Stephens gave the treasurer’s report. Both were approved as read.

Fouse was the CTLG biggest loser. Jackie Wilson was the runner up.

The no no’s are pizza and eating after 7 p.m.

Jackie Wilson won the food journals, dimes were held over, Cassie Stephens won Share The Blessing. Winners of the No Fibbing Contest are weight recorder Wanda Price, Pat Heacock, Perorazio, Stephens and Fouse. New numbers were drawn for the following week # 4.

Tassy Everett, Tammy Heddelston, Stephens, Jean Ferrebee, Carolyn Hager, Wilson, Pat Heacock and Fouse got to Put A Pig In The Pen.

Hager shared a video about the processing of baby carrots. Fouse read an article about magnesium citrate.

Heddelston’s name was drawn for the gift basket that Everett curated.

Perorazio closed the meeting with prayer requests followed by the Lord’s Prayer.

WLC Club meeting

The WLC Club met May 5 at the Living Well Church, with leader Mary Jarvis opening the meeting with the pledge, Mary Schmidt leading the prayer and Jarvis taking roll call.

The best loser for the week was Gladys Buzzard and she also wore the officers ribbon.

Buzzaed also had six weeks with no weight gain and she received a tea towel and two weeks dues paid.

The no-no for the week was no potatoes of any kind.

Connie Hissam won the 50-50 drawing and the dimes will be carried over until the next week. The best loser for the month of April was also Buzzard.

The club will have its white elephant sale the last meeting of the month. Also prayers are being asked for Linda Seevers and a card will be sent by members.

Barb Tranter read a funny joke and then Jarvis closed the meeting wishing all a happy Mother’s Day and a good week.
