Salem Historical Society Founders Day Dinner set

The event will take place at the Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner served at 6 p.m.
Dinner will be provided by A La Carte Catering and will feature Swiss steak, chicken breast, potatoes and gravy, mixed vegetables, salad, rolls, and cheesecake. A vegetarian option is available and must be requested at the time reservations are made.
Reservations are required by April 21. The cost is $30 per person. Reservations and payment may be made online at salemhistoricalsociety.org/2026foundersdaydinner; in person at the Dale Shaffer Research Library during office hours (9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday); by mail to Salem Historical Society, 208 S. Salem was founded on April 30, 1806, by Zaddock Street and John Straughan. Since 2006, the Salem Historical Society has recognized outstanding citizens who have made significant contributions to the community.

Cope Weaver
The 2026 nominees for Citizen of Honor are Gordon Dunn, Mickey Cope Weaver, and Janis Yereb. They will be formally inducted during the Founders Day Dinner.
The evening will also include a pick-a-price auction and a 50/50 raffle.
