North Star Critical Care Personnel put out structure fire

GLENMOOR — Glenmoor Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a structure fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The department responded to the call for a house on fire at 16367 state Route 267 at 12:34 p.m.

According to Capt. Matthew Bowling, North Star Critical Care also responded quickly to the scene with three personnel who with fire extinguishers put the fire out before the fire department arrived.

Bowling said North Star’s quick response made a difference since the siding of the house was on fire, and the fire could have been a lot worse if they hadn’t acted so quickly.

Bowling said the actual cause of the fire was undetermined, but it started in the mulch around the base of the gas meter which had a leak and spread to the siding of the house.

Columbia Gas was called out to shut the gas off and St. Clair Township Police Department was called. Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department was put on standby.

The fire department cleared the scene at 1:30 a.m.

There were no injuries and with damage limited to the exterior the house is habitable. A damage estimate was not available

According to the Columbiana County Auditor’s Website the property is owned by Richard Moffett.
