Liverpool Township fire chief updates trustees on department
LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP — The township fire chief recently provided trustees with an update of several departmental issues.
Fire Chief Jacob Russell reported to trustees he has scheduled an appointment with Phoenix Fire Equipment to come fit the firefighters for new protection gear which will be paid for through the grant the department received and matching funds from the township.
Russell also reported a problem with the generator at the fire station not resetting properly and that the two tankers and the two engines are long overdue for oil changes, the tankers which are used the most are six years overdue and the engines which are about three years old are still running with factory oil. He noted that they didn’t need to be changed all at one time and following discussion between the Russell and the trustees, it was decided to proceed with getting the oil changed in the two tankers and then having the oil changed in the engines. All four vehicles should be receiving oil changes every two years, Russell said.
Russell also told the trustees that the air bottles used by the firefighters have all been serviced and returned.
In other business, trustees unanimously approved the payment of bills totaling $61,878; a resolution to supplement appropriations for the Fire District Fund in the amount of $100 for Other Dues/Fees line item; Russell’s request for oil changes in for the Liverpool Township Volunteer Fire Department’s two tankers; Bosworth’s request to order 6M material for the township’s 2026 chip and seal at a cost of $33,525; Police Chief Jarod Kinemond’s request to purchase five new batteries for the police department’s radios at a cost of $125; and the meeting minutes from the regular meeting from March 17 and the special meeting from March 23.
Fiscal Officer Shirley Flati told the trustees in her report that she received the 2026 line striping program from Chief Deputy Highway Engineer Bill Helscel and the draft copy of the 2024-2025 audit from Charles E. Harris and Associates and that the draft audit needed signed.
Flati also said she met with the state auditor and received the 2024-2025 township financial records.
Kinemond said that the new MARCS radios for the department are currently being programmed.
Giambroni told Kinemond that he had the final paperwork for the bank for the new police cruiser being purchased, and he just needed to have them signed and returned to the bank.
The Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meets every other Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the administration building, 2485 Boring Lane, East Liverpool. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 14.
