Town & Country Garden Club of EP meeting

EAST PALESTINE – The Town & Country Garden Club of East Palestine met March 9. There were 23 members present who were welcomed by President Joyce Doll. She then said a blessing before inviting all to enjoy a snack. March’s snack was provided by Aubrin, Lynn and Debbie.

The meeting was then called to order with all standing for the Pledge of Allegiance. Attendance/Roll Call was next with members responding with their favorite thing to find in their Easter baskets. The first order of business was the month’s program. There were two presenters. The first was Steve Telischak who is seeking support while working toward his Eagle Scout rank. He presented his project and passed out a paper explaining details. The next was Noelle Hobrat, who gave members ideas on how to make their homes look festive. She demonstrated how to decoupage a room deodorizer, and explained the different types of modpodge/decoupage.

Secretary’s report was given by Bonnie Davis, and Susan Dellavole gave the treasurer’s report. Both were approved. Corresponding Secretary Aubrin Strohecker reported that were two birthdays in February and two in March. A thank you was received from the EP Memorial Library for a memorial book purchased in memory of Jean Riddle.

Committee reports were given. Donna Holzer gave the Civic Committee report that the wreaths were removed from the planters, and stored in the shed. Some of the lights were damaged by the snow plow, but all have been fixed now. Seasonal flags are ready to be put in planters. Watering groups need to be updated to add new members. At this point in time, members do not know who will be planting flowers at the Triangle.

Under Old Business, the club discussed whether any additions or corrections are needed in the 2026 Club Booklets.

Under New Business, the club discussed planting trees at the park for deceased members. They need to change the amount allowed and find out the kinds of trees the park allows.

Becky Runnion from Runnion’s Originals donated 22 flags for the planters downtown for USA’s 250th Celebration, these flags for the planters have been selected. Members also discussed selling flags. The club received an invitation from the Columbiana Women’s Club inviting members on March 21 to their club house. The club also discussed the Spring Fling April 4 and Way Station activity April 18.
