Salineville Kiwanis January Student of the Month
SALINEVILLE – Mara Miller has been chosen as the Salineville Kiwanis January Student of the Month.
The Southern Local High School senior is the daughter of Kelli Pastore of Salineville. She is currently ranked fourth in her class with a 4.112 GPA and is graduating a year early.
Mara has excelled at both athletics and academics, serving as a member of the cross country, outdoor track, indoor track, and cheerleading teams. She is a three-year letter winner in cross country and football cheerleading, a two-year letter winner in track, and a one- year letter winner for basketball cheerleading. She also has been the Spanish Club secretary and yearbook editor for two years each, a member of the student council and Varsity Club, and a three-year participant in the College Credit Plus (CCP) program.
Mara has gained a plethora of accolades during her athletic career as a two-time cross country regional qualifier in 2024 and 2025, All-District in 2024 and 2025, EOAC champion in 2024, EOAC runner-up in 2025, EOAC First Team in 2023, 2024, and 2025, OVAC runner-up in 2024, OVAC First Team in 2023, 2024, and 2025, OVAC Team runner-up in 2024, and All-County in 2023, 2024, and 2025. She was also an indoor track state qualifier in 2025 in the 3200-meter relay and placed ninth, while she is currently ranked sixth in the state for the 3200m relay and fifth in the 4x800m relay.
Mara received EOAC rewards and recognition for track and field, including 3200m champion in 2024 and 2025, 1600m runner-up in 2024 and 2025, and 4×800 meter runner-up in 2024 and 2025. She received OVAC Third Team for the 3200m in 2024 and 2025, OVAC Third Team in the 4x800m relay in 2025, All-County 3200m in 2025, and is the 3200m record holder for Southern Local.
Mara is currently working toward her FFA State Degree that she will receive in May.
Following graduation, Mara plans to attend Malone University on an academic and athletic scholarship and major in high school education and ultimately obtain her master’s degree in counseling.
