Lisbon BOE approves projects with safety grant funds
LISBON — Lisbon school board members approved some maintenance projects during their recent meeting, including air quality actuators for the gym using safety grant money.
The district will have four outside air and four mixed air units installed for $10,555 from Gardiner, described as air filter or air quality actuators. The board also approved $5,692 with Farnham for inspection of the bleachers, and $7,190 with Ohio Floors to recoat the gym floors for the main gym and auxiliary gym at David Anderson Junior/Senior High School.
The board approved $17,720 for Martin Public Seating to update furniture, specifically tables and chairs.
The board meeting kicked off with a presentation by freshmen students Baylen Jackson, Triton Semer and Sydney Trimnel representing Leaders Who Serve. Superintendent Joe Siefke said the presentation focused on a project the students are doing, to create entrance signs for the village which also will say Home of the Blue Devils.
In other business, the board approved an agreement with the Ohio Schools Council to prepare and solicit a request for proposals regarding the electricity purchase program for the Lisbon schools. The district is part of a consortium that purchases electricity for all the members for a specific rate.
The board also: accepted the resignation of first grade teacher Kellie Seidner, who’s retiring at the end of the school year; approved the following staff for before/after school intervention for McKinley students at $35 per hour beginning March 9 and ending April 24, including Becky McCullough, Angela Sims, Matt Guarnieri, Lauren Stauffer, Kristi Slagle, Kami Shingleton, Maddie Montgomery, Leah DeSalvo, Delania Link, Rachel Gentile, Beth Devine and Bethany Quetot; approved Janet Lane as assistant track coach and Bill Meek as weight room coordinator; approved the fifth grade students’ overnight trip to Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer in Fomel, Pa. on May 18 and 19, with students participating in outdoor, team building and nature-themed activities; approved the list of members for the 2026 graduating class pending final completion of all requirements; approved first reading of NEOLA policies; approved the services agreement with ACCESS effective July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027 for $19,214; and heard reports on McKinley, DAHS, facilities and athletics.
The board entered into an executive session for personnel matters, but no action was taken after the board returned to open session.
The next meeting will be 5 p.m. April 9 at the administration building.
