Leetonia school board accepts multiple donations
LEETONIA — Several hours after concluding its second community chat regarding proposed busing changes, Leetonia school board members passed a number of agenda items during their regular meeting Wednesday.
The meeting didn’t include any further discussion regarding the busing, according to Leetonia school superintendent Tony DelBoccio.
Action items included board acceptance of several donations for district scholarships and programming, including $775 in the memory of David Keeler for a high school scholarship fund in his memory; a $1,000 donation from Michele Gillis for the Jackie Batcha Scholarship Fund; and another $500 donation from the Williams family for the band fund.
Members also accepted $6,000 in contributions from the village’s American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars’ post for PAWS, which is the district’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports program, and made a $500 donation from the Leetonia school board’s fund to the Salem High School Alumni Foundation in the memory of that district’s deceased superintendent, Sean Kirkland.
In other action, the school board approved:
— A one-year lease extension for the Bears to Bee preschool.
– Setting the time and date for this year’s graduation, which will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 29, for 31 seniors if they complete the requirements for their diplomas. No location was discussed.
— Prom to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 8 at Mr. Anthony’s. The promenade will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. in the district campus gymnasium.
