LISBON — The man accused of causing the death of his pregnant girlfriend after running her over last year in East Liverpool will remain in jail under a $100,000 cash or surety bond, with a jury trial set for Oct. 27.
Cameron Martin, 20, Minerva Street, East Liverpool, appeared for a pretrial in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court Friday with his hired defense attorney Bruce Williams while in the custody of a deputy sheriff.
Also present, in the audience, were family members of the victim, Stephanie Householder, all wearing shirts to honor her memory and ask for justice for the 21-year-old, who died July 20, 2025, along with her unborn child, from injuries suffered in the pedestrian/motor vehicle crash on July 19, 2025 at the wharf.
Martin entered not guilty pleas last month to two counts of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, a third-degree felony, for allegedly causing Householder’s death and the alleged unlawful termination of her pregnancy.
During the hearing Friday, Martin signed a time waiver of his right to a speedy trial and hearing dates were set. The next scheduled hearing is 9 a.m. June 26 for interim status. A final status hearing is set for 9 a.m. October. 19, with the jury trial set for 9 a.m. Oct. 27.
Williams requested an adjustment to the bond amount, saying his client’s been in jail for 36 days and had been employed at the Pittsburgh Airport with a good job. If released, he said Martin would live with his mother and indicated he would have a job. He didn’t have a criminal record.
Williams requested a more affordable bond, saying his client doesn’t come from a family of means.
County Assistant Prosecutor Steve Yacovone, who’s trying the case with fellow county Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Bonish, opposed a decrease in the bond, noting bonds are not set based on affordability, but to ensure the defendant will show up for hearings. He also pointed out the seriousness of the charges must be considered, too.
“I feel $100,000 cash or surety is more than appropriate given the seriousness of the charges in this case,” Yacovone said.
Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton kept the bond at $100,000 cash or surety.
In a previous published report, East Liverpool Police Chief John Lane said the couple was having an argument when Householder exited the vehicle and was then allegedly run over by Martin at the wharf. According to Lane, at the time Martin gave his statement, it didn’t appear that he meant to run her over.
