Expanded Potable Well Testing Program is today at Best Western in Columbiana
LISBON — The Columbiana County Port Authority, in partnership with the Columbiana County Health District, will host a free public educational session on the Expanded Potable Well Testing Program from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the Best Western Plus Dutch Haus Inn & Suites, 150 E. State Route 14 in Columbiana.
This session marks the first in a series of quarterly educational events that will be conducted throughout the useful life of the Expanded Potable Well Testing Program. These sessions are designed to provide continued transparency, public engagement, and scientific education related to private well water and groundwater resources in Columbiana County.
What Attendees Will Learn
This session will provide an introduction to groundwater, including:
— What groundwater is and how it exists beneath the earth’s surface
— How groundwater moves through soil and rock formations
— The connection between groundwater and private drinking water wells
— Factors that can influence groundwater quality
— How groundwater is sampled and evaluated as part of the Expanded Potable Well Testing Program
The presentation will be led by Guy Montfort of Tetra Tech and Laura Fauss of the Columbiana County Health District.
The event is free and open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend to better understand groundwater systems and the resources available to private well owners.
