East Liverpool CIC receives update on projects

EAST LIVERPOOL – The city’s community improvement corporation (CIC) met Thursday afternoon.

President Scott Shepherd provided updates on CIC projects. Demolition continues on the Thompson Block building with the goal for its to be able to be occupied by tenants by summer.

He also shared that the proposed environmental work at the former Riverview Florist property received funding for Phase II. After TetraTech completes the work, then the CIC will have to seek additional funding to complete the remediation of the property prior to sale, which is Phase 3 of the project.

He also asked present members to ponder what changes, if any, they would like to make to their committee assignments as well as the non-profit’s bylaws and email those to him.

A request for use of the Maryland Avenue property to be used by the East Liverpool Flag Football League for practice with a full waiver of liability was referred to the property committee for consideration. The spokesman on behalf of the league was unable to be in attendance for the meeting.

After batting some dates around and scrutinizing their availability to assure a quorum, members finally set a special meeting for 8 a.m. Thursday, April 9, in city council chambers to discuss the flag football inquiry as well as outstanding loans to the CIC.

Members – new and old – not in attendance will be asked about the established meeting date, which may end up being moved if a quorum is not available.

Starting at $2.99/week.
