7 Last Words at Second Baptist

Second Baptist Church, 1091 Pennsylvania Ave., East Liverpool will present its 7 Last Words program hosted by Pastor Ernest Peachey at 6 p.m. Friday, April 3. The program will feature pastors Leonard Matthews, Kenny Stull, Derrick Kendall, Rudy McAllister, Frank Perkins, Glenn Collins and Jay Radman.

George Washington portrayal

Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Salem will present Curt Radabaugh in a portrayal of Gen. George Washington from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 26 in the church’s educational building, 251 S. Broadway Ave. The free event will celebrate 250 years of American independence. Children are welcome and light refreshments will be served. Copeland Oaks plant sale

The Friends of the Library at Copeland Oaks Retirement Community will hold a plant sale Thursday and Friday, April 30 and May 1 at the Beeghly Fountain to support the library. Plant sale hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plants available for purchase include annuals from River’s Bend — hanging baskets, pansy boxes, petunias, bubble gum petunias, succulents, Geraniums, Lantana, daisies, sweet potato vines, coleus and herbs. Copeland Oaks provides the space for the library and Friends of the Library provides some funds; however, this volunteer organization relies on the plant sale as its main source of operating income. Banquet in Salem

The Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building will be sponsored anonymously. The menu will include chicken sandwich, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and cookies. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. Lisbon kindergarten registration

LISBON — McKinley Elementary School in Lisbon announced the opening of kindergarten and pre-K registration for the 2026-2027 school year, with registration for both available online at www.lisbon.k12.oh.us.

For kindergarten, parents/guardians of children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 24, 2026 must register online using the Lisbon schools website address already noted. Under Administration, click on Forms & Links, go down to the Links column to Final Forms (Parent Portal). On there, parents/guardians will create an account or sign into their existing account to register their child, asked to please make sure to fill out and sign all forms.

After completing the online registration, call McKinley Elementary at 330-424-9869 to set up an appointment to finish registration. For non-residents who wish to apply for Open Enrollment to the Lisbon Kindergarten, the child must be 5 years of age by the date set by their district of residence.

For Lisbon Preschool, the registration is also available online at the Lisbon schools website. Children must be 3 years old on or before Sept. 30, 2026 to enroll. With a limited number of spots available, four-year-olds will be considered first, with three-year-olds taking the remaining spots. Again, after completing the online registration, call McKinley Elementary at 330-424-9869 to set up an appointment to finish registration.

After enrolling children on Final Forms, parents/guardians must being their photo ID, the child’s original birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residency, and custody papers, if applicable. Please bring the immunization records to be copied even if there’s an appointment for the required physical schedule. If the child receives the additional shots, please supply the school district with a copy of the new record.

Preschool registration requires proof of the parent’s income and the child’s Social Security card.

Tops 1341 meeting

Tops 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church on Monday, March 23, with Marlene Reynolds, co-facilitator, presiding. Dena White was the best loser and Cindy Hays was the runner up. They chose donuts and deep fried foods as the junk food for the coming week.

The drawing winners were: 50/50, Cathy Wollam; food chart, Hays; weight loss, Christine Plunkett; and junk food, Dorothy Garn. Wollam retained the travel box for the first week. All members went back on the check at this meeting.

Darlene Naukem presented a guessing game related to Tops organization goals. The winners were presented fruits/vegetables, as prizes.

Naukem and Plunkett gave a presentation on the new contest, Tortoise and Hare, which is to begin on April 6.

The meeting opened with pledges and ended with prayer concerns and the Lord’s Prayer.

Choose To Lose Group

Choose To Lose Group met at Boyce Church on March 24 with leader Penny Perorazio presiding. The meeting opened up with the pledge of allegiance followed by the CTLG roll call.

Pam Fouse gave the secretary’s report and Cassie Stephens gave the treasurer’s report. Tassy Everett was the CTLG biggest loser. The no no is sugar.

Everett won the food journals, dimes were held over, and Jackie Wilson won the Share The Blessing.

Carolyn Hager had 10 weight loss slips.

Winners of the No Fibbing Contest are Stephens, Wanda Price, Perorazio, Jean Ferrebee, and Fouse.

Everett read an article on These Tricks Can Save Your Life One Day. Perorazio gave some information about Surprising News About Ice Cream.
