Garden Art Series

The popular Garden Art Series is back, offering hands-on, creative experiences for community members of all ages. This year’s series begins with two engaging workshops: Barn Quilt Painting and Fairy Garden –perfect opportunities to welcome spring with art, nature, and creativity. All Garden Art Workshops are held at the OSU Extension Mahoning County Office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield.

The Barn Quilt Painting Workshop invites participants to design and paint their own decorative barn quilt on Wednesday, April 8 at 6:30 p.m. These vibrant, geometric patterns have deep roots in rural traditions and continue to add charm and personality to homes, gardens, and barns across Ohio. No prior painting experience is needed — participants will receive step-by-step guidance to create a unique piece to take home.

The second workshop, Fairy Garden Creation, is a whimsical, family-friendly event where attendees can design miniature garden landscapes on Wednesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. Using plants, natural materials, and tiny decorative elements, participants will craft their own magical fairy garden — perfect for patios, porches, or indoor displays. This workshop is ideal for both kids and adults looking to explore creativity while connecting with nature.

Both events are part of a larger Garden Art Series designed to inspire creativity and promote gardening through artistic expression. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. For information and to see other Garden Art events throughout the rest of the year, visit the event website at go.osu.edu/gardenartseries or contact the Mahoning County Extension Office at 330-533-5538.
