Columbiana council to sell no longer needed equipment

COLUMBIANA — City officials are huge believers that just because they no longer have the need for certain pieces of equipment doesn’t mean someone else won’t.

During Tuesday’s regular meeting, council agreed unanimously to sell various pieces of municipal personal property that is no longer needed.

Baer Auctioneers will hold the auction May 13 online at Baer auctions.com, according to the legislation language.

Included on the available inventory list are various pieces of heavy equipment, including a skidsteer, brushhogs and a 15-year-old zero turn mower; as well as contents from the former Columbiana Buick building, such as vehicle lifts, work benches and filing cabinets.

Members also awarded the city’s mowing contract for certain city properties to Enviroscapes of Youngstown.

The list includes both the existing and new Columbiana city halls, fire stations, Main Street circle, lift stations throughout town, the pocket park and Industrial Park entrance.

In other action, council agreed to:

— Convert a portion of Mulberry Alley, where the Garden of Eatin is located, to open to the pedestrian traffic only.

— Apply through the Ohio Department of Transportation for federal safe Routes To Schools’ funds.

— Not request a public hearing for the Factory 46 D5 liquor permit transfer.

— Emergency legislation advertising for bids for the Columbiana Firestone Park project.

Starting at $2.99/week.
