Quakertown Trolley Tour
The Quakertown Trolley Tour, scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, will transport passengers back to the late 1850s for an immersive look at Salem’s role in the Underground Railroad and the abolitionist movement before the Civil War. Docents Keith Mann and Ruth Newman will guide the one-hour tour, sharing compelling stories about the plight of runaway slaves, the courageous abolitionists who aided them, and Salem’s pivotal place in this history. While the historic homes featured on the tour are private and not open to the public, interior images and historical details will be shown on a screen inside the trolley, offering rare insight into secret hiding places and the lives of those who lived in or visited these homes. Tours depart from the Salem Historical Society, 239 S. Lundy Ave. Tickets are $15 per person. To reserve a seat, call 330-337-8514 and leave a message.
