ELO CIC president steps down, cites need for change
EAST LIVERPOOL — Pat Scafide, president, East Liverpool Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), resigned from the CIC Board of Trustees Thursday, saying he feels a new vision for the board is needed.
“I have thought about this for several months and I guess, if I have been thinking this, well, it must be time to go,” Scafide said. “Serving the City of East Liverpool as president of the CIC has been a great honor, one that I will always be extremely proud to have accomplished.”
Scafide thanked his fellow board members for their support and guidance and said he salutes them for their continued work and support for the city and making East Liverpool a better place to live and work.
Scafide also noted that East Liverpool has been good to his family since the turn of the 20th century when his grandparents immigrated from Italy and opened a small market on Jefferson Street that expanded to five stores and that is why community service is so important to his family.
Scafide will retain his position as council clerk for the East Liverpool City Council.
During the meeting the board opened the floor for nominations to the board. Scott Shepherd and Darlene Kinsey were nominated and voted for. They will each serve a two-year term ending Jan. 31, 2028.
Board members decided due to the number of applicants for the vacant board spots, to conduct another meeting on Feb. 10 at 5:15 p.m. to interview all the applicants.
New officer appointments during the meeting include Shepherd, president; Josh Coil, vice-president; and Connie Javens, treasurer. The positions of executive director and secretary are still open.
Following the election of officers, board members acknowledge Scafide’s service as president.
The board voted to use Farmers National Bank as the CIC’s depository and to add Coil as a signer to the bank accounts. Javens abstained from the vote.
