Crestview Athletic Facility gets new batting cages
COLUMBIANA — Batting cages have been installed at the Crestview Athletic Facility and activities are already scheduled for use, Athletic Director Casey Bogerd said.
Bogerd mentioned the athletic facility update during the regular board of education meeting in February.
He said that teams planning to use the new batting cages include both school athletic and community teams.
“Youth baseball, softball, and soccer have and will continue to utilize the facility for its intended purpose,” he said.
In other matters during the meeting, the board approved the five-year financial forecast.
The forecast presented by District Treasurer Charlene Mercure shows the district’s revenue increasing slightly over the next five years while expenditures will increase significantly, although this is subject to change as state funding and other income streams change.
Revenue from other income sources were not factored into the forecast just yet as changes to state laws will have an impact on school funding.
For example, Mercure said in the financial report that because the new accelerated February filing deadline for school district forecasts and the Ohio Department of Taxations deadline of April 20 “are misaligned, authoritative data concerning HB 186’s official impact on our district will not be received as of the filing of this forecast.”
She said the district has estimated revenues and expenses based on the limited data available and understanding of this legislation.
“As authoritative data concerning HB 186 is made available to the district changes may need to be made to the forecast that may or may not be significant,” she said in the financial report.
HB 186 is designed to keep property tax increases from surpassing inflation.
