Audubon Society program

The Audubon Society/Mahoning Valley will host Joe Malmisur, an award-winning naturalist from Summit Metroparks, who will present “Ghost from the North,” a program about a diurnal and nomadic species, the Snowy Owl, Feb. 24 at the Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m., with the presentation at 7 p.m.

Banquet in Salem

The Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building will be sponsored anonymously. The menu will include ham, au gratin potatoes, green beans, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and cookies. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. No parking in the library lot. NOAS Booze & Bags Bingo

NOAS invites the community to Booze & Bags Bingo Thursday, Feb. 26 at DiVieste’s Banquet Centre, 754 N River Road, Warren. Doors open at 6 p.m. (5:30 p.m. for sponsors and VIP guests). SCT ‘Frozen’ cast meet and greet

The Salem Community Theater is inviting families to a magical winter cast meet and greet from 9:30-noon on Saturday, Feb. 21. at the Salem High School cafeteria.

“Frozen” fans can enjoy a sing-along, story time, cupcakes, face painting, photo opportunities, and a guided paint session led by Jen’s Paint Cellar. Tickets are $10 for the meet-and-greet experience or $25 for the ultimate painting package. the last day to purchase tickets is Feb. 18.Adults do not need to purchase tickets. Rodman Library escape room

ALLIANCE – In 2016, an unusually clever octopus named Inky escaped from a New Zealand aquarium by opening his tank, sliding across the floor, and squeezing through a drainpipe back into the ocean. His adventure was captured in the book “Inky’s Amazing Escape” by Sy Montgomery, the author of “The Soul of an Octopus,” the 2026 One Book One Community selection.

On Saturday, Feb. 28, Rodman Public Library invites patrons to become Inky in an escape room-style event where they will be given various clever clues and race against the clock to see if they can escape the aquarium.

Space is limited. Those who would like to take part can call the children’s department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223, to register a group of up to four participants, including children, teens and adults, for a 20-minute time slot between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The event is being held in conjunction with the 2026 One Book One Community program.

Rodman Library Lego Lab

Children, ages 6-12, are invited to the Rodman Public Library-Main at 4:15 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month for Lego Lab. The theme will be “castles” for the February session on Feb. 24 and participants will create their own castle using Legos provided by the library. Registration is required at rodmanlibrary.com.

OSU Ext. AgriSeries Session 2

Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County will host Session 2 of the 2026 AgriSeries, focused on Farm Succession Planning, on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The program will take place at the OSU Extension Mahoning County office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield. Farm succession planning is a critical yet often challenging topic for farm families. This session will be led by David Marrison, OSU Professor and Farm Management Specialist, who will guide participants through proactive strategies to support successful transitions from one generation to the next. During the program, Marrison will share practical tools and resources designed to help farm families start and navigate meaningful succession conversations; plan for the transfer of ownership, management, and assets; and reduce uncertainty and conflict during generational transitions. The program is designed for farm owners, family members, and agricultural professionals who want to ensure long-term sustainability and continuity of family farms. Cream chicken dinner

Wellsville First Christian Church, 831 Main St., will host a drive-through cream chicken over biscuit dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. or sold out Saturday. Menu consists of cream chicken over biscuit, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, and dessert. Cost is by donation.

CASA board members sought

Tops 1341 meeting

Tops 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian church on Monday, Feb. 9, with Mary Gailey, facilitator, presiding. The best losers book was Patty Gruszecki and the runner up was Cassie Ensinger. They chose candy and cookies as the junk foods for the coming week.

The drawing winners were: food chart and junk food, Gruszecki; 50/50, Kandace Kraft; weight loss, Cheryl Myers.

Cathy Wollam was in the attendance record for 24 weeks. Gaily won the check contest. All members will go on the check next week. Myers held the travel box for week one.

Wollam opened a discussion on flu. She read an article outlining the foods for good health maintenance. She read from an AARP article “Foods to Fight the Flu.” Christine Plunkett will present the program next month.

The meeting opened with pledges and closed with brags, prayer concerns and The Lord’s Prayer.
