Historical Society of Columbiana & Fairfield Twp.
COLUMBIANA — A new board is in place for the 2026 year at the Historical Society of Columbiana and Fairfield Township. Returning for a second term is Vaughn Musser and Richard Scullin; Bob Belding is the third trustee serving a first term.
All officers are returning for the coming year: President Deborah Firestone-Himes, Vice President Mary Louise Dicken, Secretary Monica Detwiler, Treasurer Richard Scullin and Assistant Treasurer Gayle Rugh. Kimberly Bland, Maria Green, Ken Krisa, Dan Malanowski and Denise Niemi round out the board.
General meetings are held quarterly and the public is encouraged to attend. The next meeting is April 20 at 7 p.m. in the 1st Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
The log house museum will open for the season, Friday, June 5 with updated displays and introducing a new display. The Log House is open 2 to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday afternoons to the public. The museum is free to visit. The museum is staffed by volunteers and operates solely on donations and membership fees.
WLC Club
The WLC Club met on Jan. 6 at the Living Well Church, with leader Mary Jarvis opening the meeting with the pledge and then Mary Schmidt leading the group in prayer. Jarvis then proceeded with role call.
There was no weight loss reported since this is the first meeting of the year.
Peggy Imburgia won the 50/50 drawing and Barb Tranter gave a funny for the week.
Jarvis closed the meeting wishing all a good week.
Tops 1341
Tops 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian church on Monday, Jan. 12, with Mary Gailey, facilitator, presiding. Darlene Naukem was best loser and Pat Allison was the runner up. They chose cake and fudge as the junk foods for the coming week.
The drawing winners were: food chart and jackpot, Naukem; 50/50 and junk food, Dorothy Garn; weight loss, Judy McComas. Losing three weeks in a row was Darla Varney. Chris Plunkett now holds the travel box.
Lydia Kraft opened a discussion on Treating and Recognizing Seasonal Affective Disorder, from the December 2025 Tops Magazine. The members shared their experiences and discussed suicide intervention, as related to SAD. Marlene Reynolds will present the program
The meeting opened with pledges and closed with the Lord’s Prayer.

Valentines Pop-Up Shop
The Look Nook Gift Shop at Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is hosting a special one-day Valentines Pop-Up Shop with Mimi’s Baby Stacks, LLC on Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Products available will include chocolate covered Oreos, Rice Krispies, marshmallows, wafer cookies, pretzels and gourmet mini pancake stacks. Cash, debit, credit, PayPal, Cash App and Venmo will be accepted. Twenty percent of all proceeds from the sale will be donated back to support patient care at SRMC.
