Columbiana planning commission resolves scheduling conflict

COLUMBIANA — The bulk of the city’s planning commission meeting was spent trying to resolve a bit of an issue.

Last week, members had to move their regular meeting to a special one to 6 p.m. before council on the third Tuesday of the month due to a scheduling conflict.

Member Dylan Fletcher attended his first meeting as a duly elected member of Columbiana school board, which holds its regular meeting the same night as planning.

He plans on serving on both.

The commission re-elected Ted Souder as its chair before going through an agenda of four site plan reviews and one replay before revisiting its meeting night issue near the meeting’s conclusion.

A fifth site plan review for the Center For Integrated Health was tabled due to the representative’s absence.

Alternate meeting nights were discussed by planning, but those created conflicts among other members.

Finally, commission members voted to move their regular meetings to the second Monday of the month, which would need to be approved by council, per municipal attorney Mark Hutson.

The decision was not unanimous, with Souder dissenting.

Members also approved the following agenda items, which included a replay for Tyler Durr in the 100 block of Seventh; and site plan reviews for  Laurel House Beauty and Wellness at 204 E. Railroad St., Hahn Trucking at 44015 state Route 14; a Gorant chocolate popup at 85 Town Center Ave., and the Columbiana Tap House at 135 S. Main St.

Starting at $2.99/week.
