LISBON – After 45 years, attorney Coleen Hall Dailey conducted one final hearing Dec. 22 in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, and as she walked back into the courtroom a few minutes later she was surprised by colleagues, judges, courtroom staff and magistrates with whom she had worked the past decades in many capacities. The surprise included cake, cards and lots of well wishes and a recognition plaque presented by County Bar Rep. Brooke Zellers.

During her active career, Dailey served as magistrate under both Judge Doug Jenkins and David Tobin beginning in 1994, then with Judge Tobin until his retirement the end of 2010. She was domestic magistrate under Judge Tobin. She also served in various capacities in the public defender’s office for 15 years, and had a private practice.

As magistrate she presided over thousands of domestic matters. As an advocate she was chief counsel in thousands of matters before courts in Northeast Ohio.

She will be missed by her colleagues and the courts in which she practiced. She is known for her command of new statutes and caselaw in Ohio and the status of legislature before Ohio lawmakers and the Ohio Supreme Court.
