Liverpool Township trustees approve police and fire to look into new vehicles

LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP — Fire Chief Jacob Russell requested approval to look into selling squad 21 for the Dixonville Station during Tuesday’s meeting of the Liverpool Township Board of Trustees.

The department does not utilize that vehicle very often, and it can be sold and used to purchase a side-by side vehicle for brush fires with money left over to use toward station upgrades or other department needs, Trustee Mike Bahen explained.

The chief was given approval to see what the sale of the squad would generate and look into the purchase of the side-by-side.

Russell also said that one of the squads was out of service currently and that in January he would have four firefighters attending fire one training.

Police Chief Jared Kinemond requested and was granted permission to move forward with the purchase of a new cruiser. The trustees named Bahen as the representative to meet with an attorney to file the paperwork for a tax-free five-year loan through Farmers Bank which the township aims to pay off in three years. The total cost of the cruiser will be $65,381.43.

Road Superintendent Chris Bosworth said the 2006 truck needs the exhaust fixed and that he and Trustee Dennis Giambroni recently went to look at the two new trucks ordered for the road department and they expect to take delivery of them by the end of the month.

Fiscal Officer Shirley Flati said she attended the year end training with the Ohio State Auditor, completed and reconciled the November bank statement, and distributed the Hepatitis B to the police and fire departments for the signatures of each employee and volunteer.

At the request of township resident Ryan Reed, the trustees signed a petition to vacate Sherwood Street. Sherwood Street is a former road that exists only on paper, and the vacating by the township will allow the non-existent/paper road to be removed from the records and recorded as part of Reed’s property.

The trustees approved payment of bills totaling $58,261.67 and multiple resolutions adjusting appropriations and the establishment of a separate special revenue fund for the opioid settlement proceeds.

They also adopted resolutions accepting revisions for the company vehicle policy, blood borne pathogen training for the fire department.

The Liverpool Township Board of Trustees meets every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the township administration building. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 23.

Starting at $2.99/week.
