Knights of Columbus donate toward new ultrasound machine for Sophia Women’s Center

SALEM - The Sophia Women's Center in Salem is celebrating a generous gift from the local Knights of Columbus Councils to help purchase a new ultrasound machine. This new equipment will replace the original machine the Knights donated when Sophia first opened its doors 10 years ago -- a gift that helped shape countless stories of hope over the past decade.

The timing could not be more meaningful. As Sophia marks 10 years of serving women and families in Columbiana County, the center continues their mission of offering compassionate, confidential care to those seeking answers during some of life's most vulnerable moments. Sophia Women's Center provides free pregnancy testing, STI testing, limited diagnostic ultrasounds, education, and the resources women need to make informed decisions about their pregnancy.

"We are grateful for the Knights of Columbus and their unwavering commitment to protecting life in our community," said Carrie Pennington, director of Sophia Women's Center. "Seeing their baby on an ultrasound fills women with hope and affirms that every life is a precious legacy with immeasurable value."

For decades, the Knights of Columbus have championed the provision of ultrasound technology to pregnancy centers nationwide. The Knights of Columbus plans to pursue matching funds through the Knights' Ultrasound Initiative to double the impact of this generous local gift.
