Cub Scout Pack 16 to carry International Peace Light through Columbiana Dec. 15

COLUMBIANA – On Dec. 15, Cub Scout Pack 16 will carry the International Peace Light through the streets of Columbiana. The Peace Light is a small flame that originates from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and is shared worldwide each holiday season as a symbol of peace, hope, and goodwill.

The Peace Light is also continuously burning at Grace Church, the Pack’s Chartered Organization, creating a local beacon of light that the Scouts will carry through town. The Pack will depart from Grace Church at approximately 6:15 p.m., head toward Elm Street, and continue along Friend Street and East Park Avenue, stopping at selected houses and locations along the way to sing Christmas carols.

Community members are welcome to collect the Peace Light either outside their homes during the singing or at a designated anchor location along the route. Homeowners or visitors should bring a proper candle or a hurricane lantern to safely receive and transport the flame. The flame should be kept upright and away from flammable materials while being carried home.

This tradition allows the Scouts to actively participate in spreading peace and goodwill, while also connecting the community to a global symbol of hope during the holiday season. Families are encouraged to experience the Peace Light in person.
