Columbiana council reappoints planning, zoning members
COLUMBIANA — Council reappointed some planning and zoning terms Tuesday; however, one has to wait until 2026.
Members approved reappointed Jeff Stoy to the Planning Commission as well as Rick Fryda, Linda Linebaugh and Mary Ann Pollock to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Stoy’s term ends Dec. 31, 2031; while the BZA zoning appeals trio’s terms expire Nov. 25, 2028.
All four candidates, as well as councilman Ted Souder, had submitted letters of interest in an effort to resecure their seats; however, as city manager Lance Willard pointed out, council had to postpone the Souder reappointment until the January meeting as the term coincides with his new council term, which he just secured in November. His new Planning Commission term will end Dec. 31, 2029 — just like his council term.
In other actions during the 40-minute meeting held Tuesday night, council approved second readings related to rezoning 2779 acres from C-4 Intensive to R-2; a series of ordinance related the city’s 2025 budget in order to clean it up; a temporary appropriation ordinance for 2026 for the first three months; and an ordinance establishing the city’s list of meetings for council, boards and commissions in 2026.
New business included the establishment of a public hearings for the Barnes’ donated land near Firestone Park, where a building to store the Christmas lights will be erected. People wanting to show support or opposition to the measure can attend the hearing, which is set for 7:15 p.m. Jan. 20.
The CRA Housing Committee also recommended continuing with all agreements, which council concurred with.
