Buckeye Water District Board of Trustees adopts multiple resolutions
WELLSVILLE — The Buckeye Water District (BWD) Board of Trustees wrapped up the year with the adoption of multiple resolutions concerning salaries and projects during Thursday board meeting.
Resolutions regarding salaries include modifying the office manager from salary to hourly with a wage of the district’s base rate plus $3.50 an hour plus any additions for longevity or certifications and granting a 3 percent increase to the district base wage for all district employees effective Dec. 28.
The board approved the BWD advertising bids for the Hibbetts Mills waterline replacement phase 2 project and advertise for bids for the state Route 39/10th Street extension project.
Also approved were resolutions authorizing the BWD to enter into engineering agreements with Dallis Dawson and Associates for a new 500,000-gallon water tank to replace the one at the bottom of state Route 45 in Wellsville and for a new 1 million-gallon water tank to be replaced with an elevated tank on Irish Ridge Road and Oakmont.
Board President David Dawson abstained from voting on resolutions regarding agreements with Dallis Dawson and Associates.
District Manager Al DeAngelis in his report to the board said that BWD has repaired the overflow pipe on the Oakmont Tank, USG has corrected the problem with the overflow, and it satisfies the OEPA for corrective action on the tank.
He noted that the BWD has submitted documentation to qualify for in-kind contribution for a cyber grant for which a determination of if the BWD qualifies will be determined in 2026.
DeAngelis also told the board that the BWD has submitted preliminary plans for the Hibbetts Mill and state Route 39/10th Street extension to OEPA for review and that they will still have to submit for a permit to install state Route 39/10th Street extension, but not for Hibbetts Mills once the plans are finalized.
DeAngelis also said that the BWD has submitted a critical valve inventory to OEPA and these valves are required to be exercised each year and the distribution crew has fixed six leaks and installed one tap.
The board approved the Operation of the District Report which includes the treasurer’s report and operation report and also the District Manager’s report as presented to them.
There were no public comments, bid openings, committee reports, project reports, old business or new business.
The Buckeye Water District Board of Trustees meets the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. in council chambers at Wellsville Village Hall. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 15
