Lisbon community gears up for holiday festivities

LISBON — The village of Lisbon is preparing for a festive December filled with family events, community traditions and plenty of holiday spirit. From parades and Santa visits to charity drives and Christmas lights, several organizations are joining together to make the season bright.

The holiday celebrations begin on Dec. 6 with the village’s annual Christmas parade, themed “Christmas Movie Magic.” Floats inspired by beloved holiday films will make their way through downtown, creating a cinematic winter wonderland for spectators.

Line-up begins at 4 p.m. at McKinley Elementary School, with the parade stepping off promptly at 4:45 p.m. and arriving downtown around 5 p.m.

Parade participants must register by Nov. 28 at forms.gle/TdEZppHqpU5aEEAbA.

Following the parade, children can visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at the downtown gazebo.

Also on Dec. 6, families can enjoy Cookies and Milk with Santa during the 4-H Gingerbread House for a Cause community event. The program runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, located at 114 E. Washington St., Lisbon.

Visitors may bring a canned good to cast a vote for the best gingerbread house. All non-perishable donations will benefit the church’s Community Food Pantry. Children can also take a photo with Santa.

New to the village this Christmas season, the Columbiana County Fairgrounds is launching its first-ever drive-thru Christmas light display, open Nov. 28 through Dec. 21. Families, businesses and organizations are invited to design their own display along the fairgrounds midway.

On Dec. 14, the Lisbon Fire Department will host its annual Free Pictures and Cookies with Santa from 4 to 6 p.m. at the station located at 113 S. Jefferson St.

Families can tour the station, view the fire trucks and equipment, and enjoy a visit with Santa. Small unopened toy donations are welcome but not required.

Starting at $2.99/week.
