East Liverpool City Hospital earns an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
EAST LIVERPOOL – East Liverpool City Hospital earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries, and infections.
This is East Liverpool City Hospital’s 16th award, receiving the A award from 2018 -2025. ELCH is the only hospital in the region to receive the Grade A award.
“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means East Liverpool City Hospital made a true commitment to put patient safety first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
“We are honored to be recognized for our commitment to safety. This Leapfrog ‘A’ Safety Grade for the sixteenth time is a tremendous achievement, of which our community and staff should be proud. It reflects the dedication of the highest standard of care and ensuring a safe environment for our patients, staff, and community,” said Stephanie Conn, Chief Executive Officer. “I thank each of our team members for their constant focus to prioritizing patients and their safety.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than five hundred patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
